Let’s look at it this way: how much easier would it have been for me to quit smoking after my first cigarette? Perhaps, if I’d not kept it up for that first year, it’d not have taken me the next three decades to quit.
Vision. It’s a virtue.
My wife likes to say, “if you look at the world through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.” The quest for happiness includes seeing the reality of things in each moment, and not optimistically (read as foolishly) holding out for a better outcome.
Look ahead, or fall behind.
