Why Join and Become a Member?

  1. Community: The grove is so often the place where we discover people who share in similar interests and values. In truth, some of our best friends can come from church. In Northern Colorado especially, it is difficult to feel a sense of pagan or polytheist community for there are few pagan/polytheist examples in the greater community, and there is no physical building to connect to a "pagan church". It is so easy to feel lost as a pagan. The grove is the place to feel like we are part of a pagan community.
  2. Connection: While there is great joy in being part of a church community, there is also great value in connecting with other people within a similar demographic. Mountain Ancestors Grove encourages groups for young professionals, empty nesters, singles, young couples, and youth. And, a beautiful aspect of being part of groups like these is that your presence not only benefits you, but it also benefits our community as well.
  3. Education: Our children's religious education is very important. Just as important is continuing our own education as adults. Where else can you get such a varied blend of thought provoking discussions, fascinating speakers, and text exploration? Mountain Ancestors Grove offers ongoing classes as well as special programs, like our Symposium event, and regular Community Classes. The lectures and classes are all taught on a stimulating level and challenge those who attend with new ideas and thoughts.
  4. Spiritual Expression: While there is no exact formula for creating an atmosphere conducive to spiritual expression, the sanctuary of our grove is most certainly a good place to consider. Within our sanctuary can be found beautiful music, inspirational talks, and valuable readings. While the services may not necessarily remind you of your paganism (or former religion) from youth, we maintain a responsible adherence to modern, engaged polytheism within the context of the story of our local land. 

Benefits of Membership - What do I (we) get? 

  1. Life Cycle: From birth to death and from coming-of-age to marriage, the grove provides the venue, the community and the enthusiasm to mark these moments in your life properly. While it is true that you can always find a priest to perform the various life cycle ceremonies for your family, the ceremony is cheapened because there is no prior relationship. When your children stand at the Fire on their wedding day, do you want to know the priest and the bards? When you are standing at the gravesite of a loved one, do you want the priest to also know the person who has passed away? 
  2. Social Action: The grove serves as the conduit for a person to do their paganism or polytheism. Our church helps to organize people interested in acts of Engaged Paganism. Feeding the hungry, comforting the homeless, educating the underprivileged, helping our fellow congregants in times of need. All these can be done in partnership with the grove.
  3. Social events: In addition to our educational programs, we also offer an array of social programs. 
  4. Enduring Memory: There are very few places that memorialize, in perpetuity, loved ones. So long as the grove stands, you and your loved ones will be remembered. You give them (and yourself) the gift of living on through blessed memory, and shared stories. 

Please know that membership in a church is not like membership at a gym. It is not goods for services. We join a grove because we believe in supporting pagan institutions. We join a grove because we care about the future of paganism in our community. Mountain Ancestors Grove understands that you may not come to rites and services much during the course of the year. It is during such years that your membership truly supports the institution of the grove. However, there will come a time when you need the the power of the grove. Maybe not this year, but perhaps the next. Mountain Ancestors Grove will be there for you. We hope and pray that we can provide the same support for you in your time of need.
