This flame is not very big, however, it’s not the size that matters, but that it’s there in the first place. We are responsible for seeing this fire fed, managed, and tended, because if it goes out and we are left in the dark and cold, we won’t be able to engage our goodness, sense of justice, and virtue.
It’s not that we can’t get it back going again… but remember, in this “ancient temple” metaphor, fire isn’t as easy to get going when there’s no existing fire to help grow. Fire from nothing is so challenging that there are special rune-staves to mark this difficulty and struggle.
Protect your flame of goodness and virtue. Don’t let it go out. If it does, light it again and get back to work.
It’s our duty, after all.
