There is no evil in things changing, just as there is no good in persisting in a new state.”
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 4.42
To most folx, change is something looked at rather dubiously. As a species, me and my fellow humans (meaning to say - me and ALL y'all) are suspicious of change, because we don’t know if the results of that change will be good for us or bad for us.
Not good or bad in general (as if there’s such a thing), or good and bad for the whole (as if there’s such a thing)… but good or bad for the individual. #EgoTrippedUp #GreaterGoodIsGreater
The Stoic view is that events are just events, and that change is not only inevitable, but in one way or another, constant. Change simply IS. It’s not personal.
Attitude determines the effects of change. We determine how we respond.
