It isn’t events themselves that disturb people, but only their judgements about them.”
(Epictetus, Enchiridion, 5)
Liver.
Beef liver. Chicken livers. Y’all know what I’m talkin’ about, right?
Foie Gras. Liver and onions. Fried chicken livers. Foie de Veau Lyonnaise.
Liver.
Liver just is. It’s just liver. Liver causes no ripples.
It’s the opinions, judgements, and stances we take on liver that make it disturbing.
Much like the innocent, minding-its-own-business liver, events in our lives “just are” and have no agenda before we attach one to them. Just like it’s us who make Outdwellers, it’s us who cause the disturbances we feel about otherwise neutral events.
Thanks for going on that short, liver-filled ride with me and subjecting yourselves to your own opinions on liver… as well as for any disturbances that may have arisen.
(See y’all tomorrow)
