A Year of Contemplation

Following the Doctor’s Orders (Day 307)

What if a doctor, or some other kind of trusted, healthcare professional told us that we had to take a medicine that was sure to cure us… but it’s bitter, not always easy to swallow, and painful in it’s own unique, different kind of way as it works it’s healing?

Normally, we wouldn’t willingly take into ourselves something that was bitter, not always easy to swallow, and painful in it’s own unique, different kind of way. However, because of the end result of a healed body, AND the advice of our wise doctors, we get over our concerns and take the nasty medicine…

… because it’s good for us.

Well, so is the ability to practice acceptance.

What if that same doctor as mentioned above told us that whatever was happening in the moment was an opportunity for your healing and liberation… even if what was happening was something you didn’t want to have happen.

Like medicine, the individual moment can be filled with bitterness, but the “doctor” of a disciplined mind counsels us to take that bitter medicine, and come out the other side of the moment a stronger, wiser being.

(See y’all tomorrow)
