Scheming and plotting, overthinking in hopes that our staunch opinions will grant us the ability to head off at the pass every possibility that could oppose our plans. Truth is that more often than not, all those plans we make are based off of opinions that are utterly wrong.
There are two things that must be rooted out in human beings - arrogant opinion and mistrust. Arrogant opinion expects that there is nothing further needed, and mistrust assumes that under the torrent of circumstances there can be no happiness.”

We cleave to the idea that we’ll have some sort of power to change things beyond ourselves because we believe ourselves to wise beyond our actual wisdom, and arrogance clouds the necessity for humility. That’s why those opinions are more often than not wrong…
… and as such, we should expect to be required to change them.
Like we’ve mentioned here before, if we already think we’re awesome, we don’t move toward excellence. If we already think we’re wise, we don’t pursue wisdom… we think we’ve already got it.
