A full third of my practice consists of a complex, yet easy-going system of ancestor veneration. Reflecting on the deeds of my forebears, what they’ve blessed me with, and how their presence is still felt in my life today… it’s really easy to take away a lot from those times.
It’s easy to walk away from my family shrine with a feeling of being inspired.
However, I don’t believe that’s what my kin would have wanted me to do.
They’d want to be remembered, sure, but they’d want me to be DOING things that would be inspirational to others. In other words, things that will have me remembered because others are inspired my my DOING.
Don’t just sit around being “inspired” by the deeds of others. Take that feeling and get on with doing some inspiring yourself.
