Prairie Tidings: Our Church's Blog

Nights of Yule - Allies of the House

12/28/2016

Now is the time to honor the Gods and Goddesses of your family practice. If you do not have an established family practice, the following may be adapted for personal use:

Devotional/Family Prayer: Honoring the Family Allies

The prayer below is based on the family practice of The Prairie Home.

Light nine flames and speak the following:

On this, the ninth night of Yule, we honor our Family Allies
and our spirits of Hearth and Home.
Beings, Allies of our household, many are the gifts you have given to us. Tonight, we pay special honor to you.
Sky Father, grant continued perspective and wisdom to our heads of household as you have throughout the year. (offer incense or whiskey)
Hearth Mother, grant warmth and tenderness to our providers.
(offer milk or butter)
Lady of the Hall, grant us inspired hospitality as we entertain our guests. (offer mead or wine)
Ancestors of our Blood and Hearth, gather round our tables and aid us in remembrance as we honor you.
(offer a plate of food and drink)
Earth Mother, Sustainer of all, as you slumber beneath the cold and snow, may you be rejuvenated and made strong once more for the coming spring. We thank you for the fruits of this year’s harvest that carry us through the quiet season of the Winter Goddess. (offer water and grain/whole seeds)
Health of body and mind, and wealth of heart and home be with all who dwell within this space.
Allies of our home, we honor.
Allies of our home, accept our offerings.

    About the Name: Prairie Tidings

One of the many names for a group of Magpies is "a tiding" of magpies. In 2015 this blog was used as a place for Rev. William, and Rev. Missy to share their experiences as church leaders, as well as goings on at the grove, opinions, and essays. After we got some dedicants trained in our unique work, it was unanimously decided by our board of directors to open the blog to all members of our church. So, we're a group of "MAGpies" (a tiding) sharing news, happenings, and our thoughts (tidings) with you all.

Thank you all for your continued support and interest in our work!

MAGpies, please make all blog submissions to Rev. William, as he's managing the website.
