Today is a day devoted to the care of our outdoor kin. Many of us have outdoor shrines/places for offerings for our land kin. If you do not have a designated place, you may begin by creating at least a temporary space. Go outside and check the space, clean away any snow or debris that may hinder access to the gifts to be given here. Take stock of the area and see what gifts may be appropriate for the local land kin. Assemble the gifts you intend to give and place them on the shrine. Then, begin the devotional prayer to bless the offerings before gifting them.
Devotional/Family Prayer: Honoring the Land Kin
Light the first three flames and speak the following:
On this, the third day of Yule, we honor our allies of the land,
Those beings of the middle realm who share our space
in peace and harmony,
Those who are our neighbors and friends,
Spirits of place, we honor you.
As these offerings rest in the glow of these flames, seated upon the sacred space in this home,
May the blessings we have been given through this holy work flow into this plate that you may share in our blessings together.
