Rocky Mountain shadows stretch forth
Winter’s grasp reaching for the land
Hope, like daylight, fades daily
Together, the people huddle
Ancient songs forgotten
Darkness born of nature
Bird-song silenced, Elk bellow no more
Together, the people worry
Solstice night, vigils kept
Watching, waiting, wondering
Fears of never-ending night
Together, the people doubt
Desire for the dawn
Voices quake, eyes to the East
Crying out to the horizon
Together, the people sing
Sun-song fills the Great Plains
Black skies warm gently
Dawn breaks, Golden skies return
Together, the people praise
