What’s happening inside us is a civil war between that which is best for us, and that which is most selfish.
If we find ourselves wondering why we have to go looking for that great job since we’re so damned awesome there should be people knocking down our door to offer it to us, OR why we have to be vulnerable and have integrity when looking for partners since people should accept us for who we are, even if we don’t want to be open while expecting openness from others, OR why none of our plans and their contingents succeeded when we’re so strategic and awesome that they ALL should have gone off without a hitch… if we find ourselves wondering those things, we’re actually fighting the internal civil war between aspiration and ego.
Ego deceives us that we don’t need to do the work, that we’re special, that we deserve more of a break, and that others are getting more than we are getting… and, when we allow ego to drive our fate, we find ourselves divided from others, and even from our own secretly conflicting desires and goals.
Practicing consistency and congruence help to bring clarity and unify that which has been deceived and divided.
Today, like all days, we practice.
